Scrapbooking without photos, more Kids Albums and a Valentine Card

Do you know, I have actually managed to create two scrapbook pages this month, along with various cards. I'm rather pleased bearing in mind we are trying to set up a large Tearooms from scratch at the same time!

Only pretty simple layouts, but made nevertheless!

Anyway here is the offering from this week.

Scrapbooking without photos - it CAN be done!
Here is a quick(ish) scrapbook page I made recently. You can see I have no photographs on this page. Instead I have used the piece of paper which my daughter had written on as my focal point...

Sunday's Weekly Round -Up - 21st February 2010

I have made quite a few cards this week, and I maaged to make an 8x8 scrapbook page last Monday, have photographed them, but just haven't got around to posting them to the blog... will do soon though.

However I have managed to stumble across a blog of a lady who makes exquisite cards... very ornate and possibly time consuming, but nevertheless I will attempt to "card-lift" them (like scraplifting!).

The cards I have been making are for selling in the Tearooms and I haven't made them too complicated, although on seeing the ones on this blog I think I may make some "more expensive" ones. After all buying cards in the shops is a really expensive business and I think people would part with the money for that very special occasion, or special someone.

Kids Scrapbooking Classes - Envelope Albums for Ages 4-7

During the Autumn School Term at Honey’s school I held a few 6 week scrapbooking classes/courses for the Juniors (and the seniors, but that’s in another post)… We made Envelope Scrapbook Albums and here are the pictures...

Oh... it looks like such fun!

I've been in conversation with a lovely lady over in the US this evening called Terrie... hello Terrie, [waving].

We got to talking about our daughters and I asked for a photo and/or a layout, and she sent me these lovely layouts.



Now you can't tell me that you don't just want to be "in there" getting stuck in with all that FOAM!!

Oh, the freedom of childhood!!! FANTASTIC... it makes me want to get out the shaving foam RIGHT NOW! and oh...... how MY daughter would like to get her hands on that lot!

Thanks Terrie for these lovely layouts, I just luurve the title and your little one is very cute!!

The lady in the picture is Terrie's daughter's Nanny by the way (carer type, not grandmother!LOL)

And what's more... is that these pictures are of pages in an album which Terrie made for the Nanny for her birthday... what a thoughtful gift! I would have loved to have received such a gift when I was a nanny (for a couple of years!).

Stamped, coloured and inked child's birthday card

This is a birthday card I made yesterday for one of Honey's class mates who will be 5. Honey is attending her friend's birthday party on Sunday.

I could have bought a card as Honey didn't want to make one herself this time, but I suddenly had the inspiration to make a little one myself.

So I used the See D's Birthday set and stamped the balloons using StayzOn ink and then coloured the image using aqua pencils and waterbrush.

The paper is by Junkitz and because it wasn't long enough to cover both sides of the card (front and back) I trimmed the front back to fit the paper and stamped images down the side of the inside of the card showing through (see 2nd picture).

The stamp used there of mini flowers was actually from one of my daughter's tiny little stamping kits. They are made of what looks like a similar rubber to the real thing and give really good quality detail, so they have made their way into my stash rather than languishing at the bottom of a "play drawer"!

And I even edged the "toppers" with yellow and I'm not the world's biggest fan of yellow... but it worked here!

I hope she likes it... I just hope I haven't set myself a precident.!

Child's play!

This is the last image of the "Swirly frame" stamp!

This one has been coloured by my 4 year old daughter. I realise I am biased on this subject maybe, but I thought her colouring was particularly good.

I for one could not colour as neatly at the same age!

However, the other reason I posted this picture was because I notice that Honey colours all the way to the edge of the paper (or card in this case).

I notice that she does this with a lot of her paintings too. Completely covers the paper with paint!

It's a "child thing" I think, but it's something we could "re-learn" perhaps, and by that I mean being aware of all of the area of a scrapbooking layout.

Take more care over our backgrounds, and not just concentrate on the photos and embellishments.

Quite often when people are disappointed with a layout they have made, simply replacing the plain background card with a patterned paper is enough to turn it into a successful page.

Here is another page I made recently for my 4 year old daughter.

This is another 6x6 background paper from the set from Dovecraft (see picture below).

This Page follows on from yesterday's post, and I have used the hole 6x6 paper for the background.

However I will mostly likely mix just pieces/strips of the other papers to plain cardstock as the rest are "even busier"!

But these papers are great for creating fun and (a much used modern word..) funky for kids.

Again the photos have been printed onto ordinary paper and not photo paper, then mounted onto cardstock and some threads wrapped around, plus the title and date written my a Dymo.

Simple, but fun for daughter, as she will be able to keeo the album to play with. The album is one I found in the local "pound" shop... a scrapbook for children... It has nice stiff covers so hopefully will protect the inards!

It has been particularly interesting for me, as it has forced me to keep it simple and scrap "for" a youngster instead of what I would like!
