Scrapbooking Autumn Quotes and Page Sketch to Card Sketch

Sunday's Weekly Roundup 22nd November 2009

I have been working on a 12 page Christmas Programme for Honey's School Christmas Fair which is next weekend. The master now sits on my desk awaiting it's despatch to the school tomorrow morning. I am relieved it's finished now, but I am disappointed that I haven't been able to do any scrapbooking this weekend. I WILL Scrapbook... I WILL scrapbook... new affirmation! LOL :)

So here's the roundup...

Scrapbooking Quotes for Autumn Pages
How’s about this mushroom then? I thought it definitely looked like something out of a fairytale! I snapped it with my phone when out walking the dogs recently....

... I occasionally get an email from the Scrapbooking section of About.com with new articles. And I thought I would share one of them here. It’s a list of scrapbooking quotes especially for Autumn pages and you may well find them useful....

The November 09 Sketch for the Newsletter is a multi-photo Scrapbook page. One large photo and up to 4 smaller photos (and/or blocks of embellishment). As part of my demo at my crop last weekend I wanted to show that you can easily adapt a scrapbok page sketch into a card sketch with only a little adjustment.

I published the November issue of the SimplyScrapbookingNow.com Newsletter this week, I haven't made my mind up what the freebie will be this month though!! I have a couple of things in mind! You can sign up here and gain access to all the freebies.

I've been making cards, listening to music and sketching!

Vintage Style Card - Free Images

I have downloaded a lot of images from Heidi who has a website/blog called Shabby Chic Papirskatter. All the images are free and good quality and it’s well worth a visit. The picture I used on the card above is only printed on ordinary (but premium quality) paper at normal printer settings (ie not photo quality) and it looks just fine...

Make your own Bracket templates, Sketch & Challenge and an Evening Walk

Sunday's Weekly Scrapbooking Round-Up 9th August 2009

A couple of weeks ago, I mentioned that my daughter had chicken pox... well I now have them BIG TIME! There isn't a square inch that doesn't have a bump... enough said! Just have sympathy for me as I sit and write this covered in itching skin!

Anyway, to try to take my mind off things I did actually finish a page that was half done for ages, but I've not achieved much else for around 5 days!

However, I did manage to post a couple of things on the SLD blog - so here is the Round-up...

An Evening Walk with the Dogs

Free Scrapbooking Stuff Video, Published layout and a Reader's Layout

Sunday's Weekly Scrapbooking Round-Up 5th July 2009

Ok, so where did that week go then? Did I blink? I was just finishing up two mini maze book albums as thank yous to Honey's teacher and teaching assistant and suddenly realised it was Sunday evening (dare I say "night"!) and I hadn't done my weekly Round-Up!
"Oh dear" I said to myself as you can imagine! Anyway... below is the Scrapbook page I created which was published in the June issue of Scrapbook Inspirations Magazine here in the UK. The mini gallery of close ups is over in the SundayLDesigns.com blog and the direct link is below.

So here is the Scrapbooking Round-up for this week (oh and the July Newsletter will be out this week)

A great use for those Green flowers!
Here is a little tutorial from CheekyMagpie.com about making use of green flowers from your stash. Basically it is a case of making “3D” flowers using more usual petal colours and then using the green flowers last to make the sepals. A good idea for making delicate little 3D embellishments for a scrapbooking page or a card.

A Scraplift, A Baby Card and The Wow Factor!

Sunday's Weekly Round-Up 21st June 2009

I had the pleasure of attending a crop yesterday 10.30-4 and I managed to create a page from scratch, or should I say "sketch" or maybe even "scraplift"... confused? Well all is revealed in the blogpost listed first below.

This week I have managed to get a lot of those niggly little business bits and pieces done, and I filmed a couple of page tours (with some TIPS) which I will edit and show sometime soon!

So here is the round up of recent articles over on the SundayLDesigns.com blog...

Scraplifting - using Someone Else’s Page as Inspiration
A couple of weeks ago I posted a link on the weekly update on the SSN Blog to Chelsea Cook’s blog to show you her scrapbooking layouts which are lovely. I also said that I would “Scraplift” one of them.
Well actually I decided to make Sketch using a couple of Chelsea’s layouts (from her gallery) for the June SimplyScrapbookingNow Newsletter. And I made my own 12×12 scrapbook page yesterday from the sketch and it looks like this…

ScrapBuddies Sketch Series Number 7

Well the scanner seems to want to play ball now!

I didn't have time to shut it all down last night and reboot... I had too many windows open. So I have fired it up again this afternoon and hey presto it's behaving.

So here is the sketch which I drew for the "In Strawberry Fields" scrapbooking layout (see this post). As you can see my layout is different from the sketch, just to prove the point that you don't have to stick exactly to the sketch. And I know a lot of you don't which is great for variety.

Although I have to say that I have seen some resulting scrapbooking pages from sketches are nothing like the original sketch, and I wonder if indeed the creator was actually looking a the right sketch in the first place LOL!

I helped one of my bosses this morning to print a couple of photographs, explaining my way of placing the pictures into word and printing from there. He said he'd forget next time round! Which reminds me that I must make a video of how to do this. I have published an article on the subject, but maybe a video you help too, as I know there are others struggling to quickly print out photos.

ScrapBuddies Sketch no.6 - Could be a multi-photo page layout!

Hello there everyone!

I have been busy putting the final touches to the SimplyScrapbookingNow.com Newsletter which is due out on Saturday (1st Nov).

But for something else - here is the next ScrapBuddies Sketch. Sketch no. 6 in the Series so far.

And below is the layout from whence it came!

The reason I say it "could" be a multiphoto sketch is because of the blocking. You could easily add more photographs where I have used patterned paper. In fact the whole page could be made up of just cropped photographs?!

Would make for interesting cropping, wouldn't it?!

More Layouts using the Scrapbooking Sketch used this week on UK Scrappers

Here are 3 more 12x12 scrapbooking layouts based on the sketch and challenge set by our UK Scrappers Team. Again the names are those "handles" used on the UKS forum.

I must say I have enjoyed seeing all the Layouts that my fellow scrappers have created as a consequence of our Challenge. It just highlights how diverse all our techniques and skills and most of all interpretations are when it comes to Scrapbooking. Given the same 4 parameters but the layouts are fantastically different!

And one of the great parts of this challenge is that it is a "multiphoto" challenge too!

Scrapbooking Sketch used this week on UK Scrappers

Here is a 12x12 scrapbooking layout I created recently as an example to go with my sketch (below).

I created the sketch for my UK Scrappers Team - the Rockin' Ribbon Raiders - as part of our challenge for the rest of the members to take part.

There is a weekly challenge and it was our Team's turn to set one again this week.

So the challenge is:
Use my sketch
a 3 word title
3 of whatever you use i:e papers, ribbons or pictures etc other than the title
and someone or something inspirational

So far there have been many lovely page layouts made and some of them quite touching in their journaling.

Below is the sketch and underneath that the close up of the journaling on my page.

Tomorrow I shall post some of my fellow Teammies' scrapbooking layouts, so you can see some of the different layouts.

Finished multiphoto layout from the latest Newsletter Sketch

Good evening lovely scrappers!

I've had lots of lovely feedback from Newsletter subscribers which is really nice, so many thanks to you all for that! It is helpful to have such feedback, especially your suggestions for what you would like me to cover in the next issue.

This picture is of a layout by Dawn in the UK who created it from the Sketch in the new Newsletter which was only published yesterday! Well done Dawn, how quick were you!!

If you would like to see the October Sketch and an example layout, you'll need to sign up for the free Newsletter (boxes top left), but I can say that Dawn's scrapbooking layout is quite true to the sketch.
It is so nice to see some real scrapbooking creations made as a direct result of my blog or websites... makes it all worthwhile - and the more the merrier!
