I have made quite a few cards this week, and I maaged to make an 8x8 scrapbook page last Monday, have photographed them, but just haven't got around to posting them to the blog... will do soon though.

However I have managed to stumble across a blog of a lady who makes exquisite cards... very ornate and possibly time consuming, but nevertheless I will attempt to "card-lift" them (like scraplifting!).

The cards I have been making are for selling in the Tearooms and I haven't made them too complicated, although on seeing the ones on this blog I think I may make some "more expensive" ones. After all buying cards in the shops is a really expensive business and I think people would part with the money for that very special occasion, or special someone.

A great use for those Green flowers!
Here is a little tutorial from CheekyMagpie.com about making use of green flowers from your stash. Basically it is a case of making “3D” flowers using more usual petal colours and then using the green flowers last to make the sepals. A good idea for making delicate little 3D embellishments for a scrapbooking page or a card.

I thought that was amusing! Anyway I downloaded the files and you only need to change the details on the first card and the rest change automatically. Do read right down to the bottom of the article for the option to download a "multi line" version - as you see in the picture.

Freebie Cardmaking Kit and Hybrid Scrapbooking

Hello all! A day late... sorry but I had Flu! Thank you to Eileen and Sally for their comments on the last post!

So... I have a FREEBIE CardMaking Kit for you! The link below will take you to a page on the new ICanCraftNow.com website. There you will find a tutorial, a video tutorial and the link to the download itself.

This is the Card... and there is a more simple version for complete beginners too.


As you can see from the second photograph there is also a pretty insert too.


The card is a Birthday Card or a Mother's Day card (still to come this year in the States I believe), both options are in the kit.




The Card is designed from the Pink Damask Collection (the 12 papers kit preview below - which is available on the site, along with an envelope and tag kit to match the card).




Below is a card I have made using some of the papers from the kit... yep, they're blue/green! So a very versatile kit as it's not all pink!

Yes... that IS me driving... with a lovely crash helmet on! LOL I have no idea what speed I managed to get the V12 up to, but I would say over the ton on occasion! (100mph) mere walking pace for such a car!

Brand New Printable Card making Kit FREEBIE

Hi there, I am so excited to be able to announce a new project for the SimplyScrapbookingNow.com website! I am currently designing a range of printable kits for scrapbooking and for cardmaking and will hopefully progress into other areas too.

Here is the first kit and it is a very simple card kit (remember the site's motto? - "Keeping it Simple to get you Crafting Now!"), so I have kept it simple so that complete beginners can have a go too. It's just in time for Valentines Day and so may just help if you haven't sorted out your card yet!!


The kit consists of a straight forward "print out and stick on a base card" version (pictured left) and the one on the right in the photo was made using the 3 page pdf, (which includes full instructions and bonus items) which was printed, cut out, arranged and stuck to a base card. You get both versions in the FREE DOWNLOAD! All you need is a colour printer with some paper in it (!) and a base card to stick the final item onto.

This kit is the first in a range I will be calling "The I Can Craft Now" Range of products and I have released it free for you to try out. I would really appreciate any feedback you may have, whether you love it or loathe it, as I can take all suggestions on board for the next kits. I'm hoping to create a FREE mother's day card and a FREE simple scrapbooking page shortly.

Oh and for those of you who don't have a colour printer... I will be creating black and white kits for cardmaking and scrapbooking, so keep an eye out for those.

Anyone will be able to take advantage of these kits, as they will be flexible enough for the more experienced to create their own things, but simple enough for a beginner to start too.

Freebie Scrapbooking Kit - digital

I have just downloaded a lovely kit from "A Work in Progress - Designs by Vicki".

It's called "Wild Child" and the kit starts with the papers which are a few posts back, but as a whole it consists of papers, embellishments and an alpha (which is today's post).

These are definitely not my usual colours, and as I have mentioned in my comment on Vicki's blog, they are 'way' out of my comfort zone! But I am strangely looking forward to making something up with this kit.

But how generous is it that we can download such things for free?!

Cute quick page

I'm still on a course in London today!!

No, I'm not a slow learner... it's a 2 day course!! LOL

So here is another quicky post.

For those of you into digi scrapping, you already know what a "quick page" is. This is a lovely download for you from Creative Escapade Nathy's blog.

For traditional scrappers, you can still download it, print it and add your picture.

Although frustratingly I can see whether it is jpeg file or not, cos it's in a zip file that I can't test download because I am not using my computer! How frustrating!

So, if it's not a jpeg (it may be a .psd file which is for use with photoshop or PSE) then you can just use it as a page to scraplift.

I just liked the lovely softness of the page.

A "sketchy" scrapbooking sketch and template

I'm on a course in London today!! So this is a very short post!

I found this template on the scrapmatters.com site... it's from last Tuesday's post.

It is actually a downloadable template for those of you into digital scrapbooking, but I thought it made a jolly good sketch for traditional layout too.

It would be great to layout the photos (and or journaling blocks/page accents) as per the sketch and then doodle around each to make the sketchy frames!

Holiday snaps - badge album

A quick post here tonight! Why... well mostly because my internet connection seems rather intermittent this evening!

Anyway, I have been on hols... went to Majorca for a week.

I have recently downloaded a freebie from Digital Freebies... their "Friday Freebie" in fact, from last week. It is a little set of six 2.5" x 3" approximately simple layouts (business card size - referred to as "China Tea Badge Album - Digital Couture").

Had a quick fiddle with these and a couple of "snaps" fresh from holidays!

Hard to think that less than two days ago I was enjoying an evening drink poolside!

Free Scrapbooking Workshop including Materials!!!!

Wow... you can't get better than that! - A real "Make 'n' Take" at no cost to you!

The only proviso is that you have to make your way to either Bungay Youth Centre in Suffolk on Tuesday 20th May at 1pm-3pm OR Halesworth Community Centre (in Suffolk) on Friday 23rd May at 10am-12 noon.

It's Adult Learner's week in Suffolk (England!) 17th-24th May this year and Suffolk County Council are footing the bill for your workshop... which is being held by yours truly... yep... ME!

The photo shows the patterned paper in the kit. There will be some other bits and pieces such as ribbons, card, etc and I will be demonstrating a few layouts for you to make.

Have you been collecting your bits from Christmas?

Well Christmas day has been and gone... how was yours? Mine was good and I have collected a few bits and pieces from wrapping and the like, mostly ribbons I have to say and not the wrapping paper itself as most of it is usually too acid to use for scrapbooking.

Worth keeping if you have plans to make some Christmas cards for next year mind!

However, don't forget the labels on any new clothes you or your children may have received... some clothes labels nowadays are quite "arty".

Then there is the little irritating loops of ribbon in new clothes that have to be cut off anyway, because they keep sticking out of your clothes at the shoulders... they are quite useful for layouts and all for free!

Cords from gift bags... I keep any halfway decent gift boxes for placing things like brag books inside... which reminds me that I must make up a brag book for my hubby. I ran out of time before Christmas.

Anyway... here is the altered notebook I made as a gift for a team mate in my team on UK Scrappers. It was actually inspired by a digital instant page, and when I have the time to remind myself who the designer was I will let you know! Papers from the Scarlet's letter series from Basic Grey.

Freebie Scrapbooking

Here are some sites that do a lot of hard work. The authors spend their time searching lots of sites and posting links to all those that have a freebie that day.

Now obviously I am talking about digital freebies, but you can download these and print out a lot of the stuff, ie, some embellishments.

Some digital items can also be taken into programs like "Word" so that you can print them with/on/around or over your photographs.

For instance you can place a frame over a photograph in Word, print it and then cut out the whole lot and place that on your layout!!

Anyway... Well done to these ladies for all their hard work!

Free Digital Scrapbooking supplies

I have been collecting information and freebie downloads for a few months now to enable me to do some digital scrapbooking. And this is not my first attempt, but my second. I have listed below the supplies used on this layout.

It is actually an entry in a book I started for my daughter when we had her naming day on her first birthday. Everyone who attended wrote something on a page in the book and every year since then my husband and I and any other significant person (family member) around on, or near her birthday, writes an entry in the book.

This year I decided to do a digital scrapbooking layout for her 3rd birthday (which I wrote back then, but didn't get around to sticking in the book!). It is 19 x 13.5cm (7.5 x 5.25in) So as her 4th birthday is coming up soon, I will be doing another layout. In fact I may attempt a double page layout! More to say!!!

Anyway, there is an overwhelming amount of digital supplies out there on the web, and I have only fiddled with freebies so far, and am trying to "self-teach" myself how to use Photoshop Elements. I find the program a little frustrating sometimes because I used to work with a professional publishers layout program years ago (£900 worth!) and so find Photoshop Elements (PSE) a bit "clunky". However, if you'd like to dabble in digi scrapping, then PSE is a good one to use (£50). And of course, like me you can have a go for free, by downloading freebie digi papers, elements and alphas just to see how it is for you, as you can use them in programs like Word.

I warn you though, the file sizes for the graphics are huge, and that's before you put any pictures on a layout, so you need a fair amount of RAM. I recently added to mine and now have 750Mb of RAM, which works ok.
