Hello, I've been down to my mum's again this week with my daughter - last time before Honey goes back to school! We have been making cards together! I have decided to make a load from a huge kit I bought from QVC to sell at the school Christmas fair - although the cards aren't Christmassy!! But then there are other things going on at that time of year like birthdays!

Anyway, I promised to show you my "Thank You For..." Canvas which I made at the crop I went to last week, so it's here, and I have blog posted a couple of recent cards, plus there's some more scrapbooking inspiration from across the web (at the end).

“Thank You For…” Scrapbooking Canvas
Time to Scrapbook outside the Page! I found a couple of mini canvases going cheap in a local framing shop and thought I would do a little “altering”. This canvas is 5 inches square and I decided to make a “Thank You” reminder for my room. I have already made a “Thank you” Layout and this adds to my collection. Wedding Anniversary card for a Man

Hi there all!

Been a lovely week of weather over in my neck of the woods, although I haven't sunbathed! Whenever my daughter is busy playing with the various neighbours children in the close here I seem to gravitate towards my computer and designing, writing and generally learning!

Well hello there everyone. I am happy to say that my chicken pox is clearing up! Hopefully be the end of next week I will be back to normal... whatever that is!!

I want to say congratulations to Jessica Ennis who won the World Athletics Gold for the Pentathlon - she won Gold for Great Britain. I'm not a sport fan, but she has inspired me to carry on with things in my life, despite my thinking "what's the point", as she has come back to take Gold after nursing a fracture (or possibly broken) ankle only last year. Watching her celebrate this evening, gave me the kick up the arse I needed! So THANK YOU Jessica.

Right then, Oh I made some Dog Agility Equipment today! I will take a photo soon, and maybe even some video... not of the equipment, cs that would be boring..! I meant I will take some video of Inde working the equipment! There's only some jumps and a hoop (or Tyre), but it's good for practise of my commands and getting him to go where he is supposed to!

We have had some lovely weather this week, I have been outside, but as it's difficult to see my Laptop screen outside I have to be indoors for all that stuff, and then there's scrapbooking itself... you can't take it outside, especially if there is a breeze!

So actually I have spent a lot of it indoors one way or another! A few years ago (before scrapbooking) I used to spend most of waking hours in the garden... hardly do anything now, but then I have about a 10th of the size garden now!

A Scraplift, A Baby Card and The Wow Factor!

Lovely Clean, Simple Multi-Photo Layouts

Here are some examples of scrapbook layouts by Crystal Brothers. I like her clean and simple style, and the fact that a lot of her layouts are multi-photo, and as you see below I'm talking 2, 5 and 6 photos.

Take a look at Crystal's pages and see that there are not many elements to the layouts, and yet the positioning and choice of the few papers and embellishments on them work really well.

Do check out her blog, I have certainly started to "follow" it and I may well have to make one of Crystal's layout the subject of another "ScrapLift"!

Scrapbooking Video - How to create more space on your page and hinge a photo

Here is a video from the SimplyScrapbookingNow.com site. It's about how to get more photographs on your page and yet it still looks like a one photo "arty" page.

You know the sort I mean, those pages you would like to make which have one photograph and lots of lovely papers and embellishments to set it off. The only problem is that it doesn't make a dent in your "photo mountain" and you need to scrapbook more photos. Also other photographs are necessary in your scrapbooking pages to tell the story correctly.

So here is one solution to that problem.

Colourful Scrapbooking Layout and the snow!

Hello there! Well all the snow has gone grom my part of the world, much to my daughter's dismay this morning! And to think I was pulling her along on a sled yesterday afternoon! Ah the joys of English weather!

My Mum, who lives only 160 miles to the south (and westish) of me has over a foot of the white stuff! She did send me some photos, but I didn't mention it to Honey as I thought it would be a bit like "rubbing salt in the wound" as they say... anyway... I've included some pictures for you down below.

But I did promise I would show you a colourful layout I made on Sunday.

I made the layout specifically to show an example of a free download which is available in the Februrary issue of the Newsletter.

It is a set of printables (words and alphabet) fo colouring in any way you fancy. I used coloured pencils here as I wanted that "Sketchy" feel, but you can be as creative as you like with doodling, patterns, pens, pencils, paints... the world is your oyster!

So here is one of the photos my mum sent up from the south of England! I particularly like the cones of snow on the top of the lanterns!

Hidden pictures in the Scrapbooking Layout

Did you guess where they are? Is this where you meant Dawn? (see comment on previous post).


The two photographs, just with rounded corners and some sandpapering to distress the edges, were tucked under the white-with-black-pattern background paper.

All three photographs were the standard 6x4 size shop printed kind and I didn't cut them down very much. In fact I only cut the front photo down a bit.

Can you guess where the other photographs are on this Scrapbooking Page

Here is a proper photograph of the scrapbooking layout I posted yesterday. As I mentioned, this was made to demonstrate "layering". I wonder if you can "now" see where the other photos might be hiding in this multi-photo page... answers on a postcard please..! LOL - only joking! But you can have a guess and leave a comment if you like!

Anyway, this layout is the subject of an article in the February issue of the SimplyScrapbookingNow.com Newsletter, out at the beginning of Feb.



And here are a couple of close ups. You might like to know that the background to the little frame detailed in the bottom picture (black with white swirls) is actually the top foil of a dessert carton!

Finished Page - layering technique (multi-photo too!)

Here is a picture of a layout I made as an example of "layering" for a demonstration I gave at the last ScrapBuddies crop this month. I actually took this picture at the crop (as you may have noticed) but I did have a fiddle with it in Photoshop Elements.

Hmmm, does it look all dreamy or just plain weird?! LOL



Anyway, this layout was inspired by a scrapper called Malin (here is a link to a gallery of some of her pages) and I also made a card in the same style - with the left overs in fact.

I shall post the full picture of the layout and the card tomorrow... and I may even put you out of your misery with regard to where in the world the other photos are, bearing in mind that this is yet another multiphoto layout! can you guess?

Multi-photo scrapbooking page with Hidden Photos

Here is my first page for 2009!

It's a multi-photo layout and I have made a couple of short videos showing tips for cropping the photographs and for making the "hinged" photograph and they are in the January SSN.com Newsletter.

I wanted to make a page that had a "hand drawn, childlike" feel to it... See below for the pictures of what's behind the main photograph.

I've been in conversation with a lovely lady over in the US this evening called Terrie... hello Terrie, [waving].

We got to talking about our daughters and I asked for a photo and/or a layout, and she sent me these lovely layouts.



Now you can't tell me that you don't just want to be "in there" getting stuck in with all that FOAM!!

Oh, the freedom of childhood!!! FANTASTIC... it makes me want to get out the shaving foam RIGHT NOW! and oh...... how MY daughter would like to get her hands on that lot!

Thanks Terrie for these lovely layouts, I just luurve the title and your little one is very cute!!

The lady in the picture is Terrie's daughter's Nanny by the way (carer type, not grandmother!LOL)

And what's more... is that these pictures are of pages in an album which Terrie made for the Nanny for her birthday... what a thoughtful gift! I would have loved to have received such a gift when I was a nanny (for a couple of years!).

Great!

That's five more photos on a layout then!

Here is an 8x8 page on which I have included no less than 5 photographs !

Very simple page using Basic Grey papers (Two Scoops) and a few bits and pieces.

The title is on the photograph... in other words I printed the photograph out with the Words already on top. There is a sentence of journaling bottom left on the main photo too.

I have made a video showing how to do this. The video will be published in the December issue of the SSN.com Newsletter - due out on 1st December.

If you are not a subscriber, you'll have to wait a month to see it, as Newsletter content is only released onto the main site when the next issue has been published. But as it's free to sign up - so why not?
