Oops, I didn't get around to posting an update last Sunday. Why...? well because I have been sooooo busy with the Tearooms set-up, time is sapped by other things. (there are links to progress updates below).

Sunday's Weekly Round -Up - 21st February 2010

I have made quite a few cards this week, and I maaged to make an 8x8 scrapbook page last Monday, have photographed them, but just haven't got around to posting them to the blog... will do soon though.

However I have managed to stumble across a blog of a lady who makes exquisite cards... very ornate and possibly time consuming, but nevertheless I will attempt to "card-lift" them (like scraplifting!).

The cards I have been making are for selling in the Tearooms and I haven't made them too complicated, although on seeing the ones on this blog I think I may make some "more expensive" ones. After all buying cards in the shops is a really expensive business and I think people would part with the money for that very special occasion, or special someone.

I have been working on a 12 page Christmas Programme for Honey's School Christmas Fair which is next weekend. The master now sits on my desk awaiting it's despatch to the school tomorrow morning. I have downloaded a lot of images from Heidi who has a website/blog called Shabby Chic Papirskatter. All the images are free and good quality and it’s well worth a visit. The picture I used on the card above is only printed on ordinary (but premium quality) paper at normal printer settings (ie not photo quality) and it looks just fine...

It's dark in the eves now and Christmas is looming fast it seems... I have a plan to have all my Christmas shopping done by 1st December - and that includes my daughter's birthday stuff too! Do you think I'll make it?

I have made progress re the birthday party though, she wanted a party at the same place as her 4th birthday (this will be her 6th Birthday) - so I booked it all today... it's great cos we just turn up, someone else deals with the kids, they all play on a huge indoor play thing, have something to eat and then 2 hours later we go home... no clearing up... fantastic! More importantly no organising, invitation designing and all that, as the venue provides invitations to fill in! Shame is a boyish Pirate place, but needs must!

Hello, I've been down to my mum's again this week with my daughter - last time before Honey goes back to school! We have been making cards together! I have decided to make a load from a huge kit I bought from QVC to sell at the school Christmas fair - although the cards aren't Christmassy!! Well hello there everyone. I am happy to say that my chicken pox is clearing up! Hopefully be the end of next week I will be back to normal... whatever that is!!

I want to say congratulations to Jessica Ennis who won the World Athletics Gold for the Pentathlon - she won Gold for Great Britain. I'm not a sport fan, but she has inspired me to carry on with things in my life, despite my thinking "what's the point", as she has come back to take Gold after nursing a fracture (or possibly broken) ankle only last year. Watching her celebrate this evening, gave me the kick up the arse I needed! So THANK YOU Jessica.

Right then, Oh I made some Dog Agility Equipment today! I will take a photo soon, and maybe even some video... not of the equipment, cs that would be boring..! I meant I will take some video of Inde working the equipment! There's only some jumps and a hoop (or Tyre), but it's good for practise of my commands and getting him to go where he is supposed to!

Firstly a cute "Handbag Tutorial" - that's the handbag is cute, not the tutorial, over on the Inspirational Blog... I may have a go at this one soon!

Scrapperlicious has a lovely mini album and all the pictures are on This Post check it out... it's very sumptuous! Very "touchy feely".

Patchwork Card - stitched scrapbook style

Here is a picture of a card I made for the crop last week to help demonstrate a Patchwork style - which was the theme for May's session.



I have deliberately not put a greeting on the card, as then I have the flexibility to use it for any occasion, by personalising it when I need to.

To make the card, I have adhered the paper onto the card to just hold in place, being careful not to put sticky dots where the sewing needle would be going (otherwise it gets glued up and ends up in a right old mess!). I then used the sewing machine around the edges of the paper. Closeup below.

I stitched the patterned papers to a piece of cardstock which I then adhered to the font of the blank card. In that way I have hidden the back of the stitching and covered the back of the brad used to hold the ribbon in place.

Just a simple bit of stitching makes a card seem that much more professional. Oh and the patterned paper second form the left (large pink flower) is a photocopy of a napkin!!

Freebie Cardmaking Kit and Hybrid Scrapbooking

Hello all! A day late... sorry but I had Flu! Thank you to Eileen and Sally for their comments on the last post!

So... I have a FREEBIE CardMaking Kit for you! The link below will take you to a page on the new ICanCraftNow.com website. There you will find a tutorial, a video tutorial and the link to the download itself.

This is the Card... and there is a more simple version for complete beginners too.

Yes... that IS me driving... with a lovely crash helmet on! LOL I have no idea what speed I managed to get the V12 up to, but I would say over the ton on occasion! (100mph) mere walking pace for such a car!

Scrapbooking Video Tutorial, Cardmaking and SSNow.com Newsletter

Hello everyone, I hope you are all well and scrapping and/or card making like mad things!... here is the weekly update from me!

First of all, here are a couple of cards I have made recently (one actually this afternoon as I have to give it as a bithday card tomorrow!)

Here is a closeup of the flower detail. I have made a video about how to maked these really eacy flowers.

Below is the other card, which I started at a cardmaking gathering I attended one evening back in February. It was held at a local shop to me in Lowestoft called The Norwich Road Craft Shop which is run by Margaret. The evening get togethers are every other Wednesday, the next one being 18th March. I met a lively bunch of ladies of all ages busily making cards for a couple of hours.

It's held in the shop itself and therefore all the stock is available for you to buy too... handy that! If you are local to Lowestoft and want to ring Margaret, the telephone number is 01502 567123, otherwise the link to the shop website is above (click the name).

Although I started make the card at the Norwich Road meeting, I finished it as an example for the tutortial video, I mentioned. The video in question is part of the new SSNow.com Newsletter (March issue) which I published last week.

Now then... If you are a subscriber you may have already seen the video below, but I thought I would post it here as it is now available on the SimplyScrapbookingNow.com website anyway as past newsletter content.

It's about using Heavily patterned paper and letting it do all the work, have a watch!

I also visited a crop yesterday, run by Tracy. Tracy started in scrapbooking, but actually has moved over to cardmaking and has a huge amount of equipment, which she generously brings with her to the crop for everyone to use.

There were stamps and inks, various useful punches, a cuttlebug with dies and embossing folders (which I like very much!) and a Cricut with lots of cartridges... a very nice piece of kit, quite expensive (plus the cost of each cartridge) but very easy to use. I myself have a Craft Robo at home, but the Cricut was very portable as you don't need a computer to run it.

I did make a page layout which I finished at home, but I can't share it as I sent it off to a magazine for possible publication, but I will share as soon as I can.

I'm still working hard on the Hybrid Kits, and I will post up the freebie very shortly now (may be mid week even!) if you are a subscriber you will get notification via email when the freebie is available.

Brand New Printable Card making Kit FREEBIE

Hi there, I am so excited to be able to announce a new project for the SimplyScrapbookingNow.com website! I am currently designing a range of printable kits for scrapbooking and for cardmaking and will hopefully progress into other areas too.

Here is the first kit and it is a very simple card kit (remember the site's motto? - "Keeping it Simple to get you Crafting Now!"), so I have kept it simple so that complete beginners can have a go too. It's just in time for Valentines Day and so may just help if you haven't sorted out your card yet!!


The kit consists of a straight forward "print out and stick on a base card" version (pictured left) and the one on the right in the photo was made using the 3 page pdf, (which includes full instructions and bonus items) which was printed, cut out, arranged and stuck to a base card. You get both versions in the FREE DOWNLOAD! All you need is a colour printer with some paper in it (!) and a base card to stick the final item onto.

This kit is the first in a range I will be calling "The I Can Craft Now" Range of products and I have released it free for you to try out. I would really appreciate any feedback you may have, whether you love it or loathe it, as I can take all suggestions on board for the next kits. I'm hoping to create a FREE mother's day card and a FREE simple scrapbooking page shortly.

Oh and for those of you who don't have a colour printer... I will be creating black and white kits for cardmaking and scrapbooking, so keep an eye out for those.

Anyone will be able to take advantage of these kits, as they will be flexible enough for the more experienced to create their own things, but simple enough for a beginner to start too.

Scrapbooking Technique of layering used on a birthday card

This is a birthday card I made from the scraps of a 12x12 scrapbooking layout I posted on the blog a short while ago. Click here to see the Layout.

It is an A5 size card (roughly 6x8"). I deliberately tried to stay very close to the design of the layout as it was for a demo to my crop group, showing that many, if not all scrapbooking techniques can be used on cards too.
