Scrapbooking without photos, more Kids Albums and a Valentine Card

Sunday's Weekly Round-Up 28th February 2010

Do you know, I have actually managed to create two scrapbook pages this month, along with various cards. I'm rather pleased bearing in mind we are trying to set up a large Tearooms from scratch at the same time!
Only pretty simple layouts, but made nevertheless!
Anyway here is the offering from this week.

Scrapbooking without photos - it CAN be done!
Here is a quick(ish) scrapbook page I made recently. You can see I have no photographs on this page. Instead I have used the piece of paper which my daughter had written on as my focal point...

Kids Scrapbooking Classes- Paper Bag Albums for Ages 9-11
I took two different classes at Honey’s school… the Juniors… the subject of the earlier post and the seniors, here are their finished Paper Bag Albums...

Simple Valentines card
I reaslise that it’s a week later, but here is the photograph of the Valentines card I made for my husband. As my other half likes chocolate so much...

Kids Scrapbooking Classes and Free Supplies

Sunday's Weekly Round -Up - 21st February 2010

I have made quite a few cards this week, and I maaged to make an 8x8 scrapbook page last Monday, have photographed them, but just haven't got around to posting them to the blog... will do soon though.
However I have managed to stumble across a blog of a lady who makes exquisite cards... very ornate and possibly time consuming, but nevertheless I will attempt to "card-lift" them (like scraplifting!).
The cards I have been making are for selling in the Tearooms and I haven't made them too complicated, although on seeing the ones on this blog I think I may make some "more expensive" ones. After all buying cards in the shops is a really expensive business and I think people would part with the money for that very special occasion, or special someone.
These are the articles from SundayLDesigns.com though...
How do you get your friends to gladly GIVE you Scrapbooking Supplies? (and they can also be used for cardmaking.) What Scrapbooking items am I talking about? ...
During the Autumn School Term at Honey’s school I held a few 6 week scrapbooking classes/courses for the Juniors (and the seniors, but that’s in another post)… We made Envelope Scrapbook Albums and here are the pictures...

Mini Scrapbook Albums, Photography Tips and Quick Scrapbooking

Sunday's Weekly Round-Up - 24 January 2010

Well here are some visual goodies for you... I made a mini album back in December and it's taken this long to post the pictures!

Will be doing a Tearooms update shortly!

Mini Scrapbook Album with mixed sized pages

Very Quick Scrapbooking Page

On the Down Low - Low Level Photography

Plus I thought the following article over at ScrapNSpire particularly interesting - it shows a Valentine Scrapbook Album, but it also includes all the pictures in a downloadble pdf, which is most useful for reference if you fancy making something similar.

Vintage Cards, Scrapbook Sketch and Mini Pocket Album Video

Sunday's Weekly RoundUp - 17th January 2010

I missed one didn't I?! I missed last week's update! Have been busy with research for the tearooms... I have set up a holding page for that too.... see below.

I also posted a video Tutorial for a Pocket Mini Album - which has proved very popular! And published the latest issue of the SimplyScrapbookingNow.com Newsletter.

So I will only post the links here again for you, rather than waffle on... you'd probably prefer that, eh?!

More Circle Album pages, the Seaside & an Autumn walk

Sunday's Weekly Scrapbooking Round-Up 25th October 2009

A few posts this week... excuse me while I keep this short! Click on the titles to see the full articles. I will be posting more finished pages next week.... oh and a card.

More Circle Mini Album Pages
Ok, so… as promised in the previous post here are the other pages I created in my circle mini album.

Southwold Seaside Pictures
My mum visited us last weeked for a couple of days and we managed some scrapbooking together, which was nice. She bought me some stash for my birthday, including a pack of Basic Grey “Porcelain” and some Rhonna Farrer mini bag-o-buttons in “French Twist” Colours - both being basically pale greens and pinks… which happen to be my mum’s favourites… luckily I quite like them too!...
**************************************************

Autumn Photos
I am very pleased (on a regular basis) that I finally took the plunge to get a mobile phone with a decent camera in it! I even saved myself £10 per month in the process which was a bonus! But it means I can take pictures wherever I go, as I almost always have the phone with me....

Heartfelt blog post and a Circular Mini Album

Sunday's Weekly Scrapbooking Round-Up 18th October 2009

I'm going to keep this update very short... and the first link will explain why.
And I just want to explain also that Blogger has managed to mess about with my layout of this blog post (yet again) by taking out all the paragraph returns that I put in! So I apologise for the mess!
I do hope you are well this week and scrapbooking merrily.
I can report that I have finally started on an album which is of a holiday to Disney Paris in 2007!
I managed to complete the cover and the first two pages yesterday and plan to continue till it's done, rather than putting it away again. Only about another 125 pictures to go then!!!!

3rd Mini Album Video, Cup Cake Card Tutorial & Inspiration

Sunday's Weekly Scrapbooking Round-Up 4th October 2009

I've spent best part of yesterday and today away from my laptop. Why? Because I thin k I'm suffering a little with "burn-out"! I need to ease off! I tried to scrapbook yesterday, for myself, but ended up making 2 scrapbooking videos instead... I just can't help myself apparently!

However I did spend the whole morning with Inde preparing and practising at a Public Agility Display. His first outing in public and I wasn't sure what he's do (he's a bit nervous!) but he was excellently behaved!

Anyway enough waffle... here's the round up...

3 Easy 4×4 mini albums - Video Tour 3
Here is the last in the series of short videos showing you the three mini scrapbook albums I made using just one piece of 8×8 cardstock and patterned paper each. This album is quite “girly” using more K&Co Papers “Sparkly Sweet”. All the albums are 4×4 and quite cute really! ...

Mini Album Video, and Inspirational Scrapbook Pages

Sunday's Weekly Scrapbooking Round-Up 20th September 2009

I actually managed to fight may way around the video editing problems with my computer recently and upload the second video about the three easy mini books! Where there's a will there's a way, as they say!
I have also been clearing and tidying my craft room/office in order to fit in a third rolling tote (yes I do need three when I am taking everything to my own crop ScrapBuddies.co.uk!!)and set up an area for making video scrapbook tutorials! I am in the throws of creating the online scrapbooking course I mentioned a while ago and I'm actually really looking forward to it's launch, but I am enjoying the process of creating the tutorials too. The tutorials are all based on my three and a half years' experience of giving workshops and demonstrations covering all sorts of things from beginner scrapbooking through to more advanced techniques.
As always I will let you know as soon as it is available. In the meantime... here is the round up this week.

3 Easy 4×4 mini albums - Video Tour 2
Here is the second of three short videos (this one is 2 and a half minutes), taking a look at three mini albums I made using only one piece of 8×8″ cardstock each and some patterned paper. I didn’t have anything else to hand when I made these mini albums apart from scissors and some double sided tape, oh and I borrowed a pencil too!
This little book was designed with little boys in mind! A nice boyish theme the papers being from ”Hopscotch”, a 6×6″ pad of papers by K&Co...

Using the Masking Technique
My friend Siobhan has a flair for Scrapbooking! So much so, in fact that she is on a design team! I will be sharing her layouts with you from time to time (and I thank Siobhan for allowing me to do so - you can find here blog HERE), as I think they serve as ...

Basic Grey “Indian Summer” Papers Scrapbook Pages
Here is a lovely page by Stephanie over at the Scrap Paper Scissors Blog (pictured right). I particularly like the layering of the leaves, butterflies and fence. And this is a great example of the use of white space (literally in this case!). (also features a page by Courtney Baker, pictured below)...

Scrapbook Reminder from the Media
I took this photograph (see photo on main story on SLD.com) when I was last visiting my sister and brother-in-law recently. I do not have any newspapers in my house (apart from the free ones which are thrust through our door whether we like it or not!). This magazine came with The Times newspaper, which came with their delivery of grocery shopping.
The reason ...
Oh and plesae excuse the dodgy layout of this post - Blogger is currently taking out all my spaces (hard returns!) Bless it!

Easy Mini Album Video Tour, Freebie peek and Scrapbook Page Inspiration

Sunday's Weekly Scrapbooking Round-Up 6th September 2009

So it's the last week of the school holidays...normally I would be feeling a sigh of relief (I think I've got Honey's school stuff ready now!), but alas I am "up against it" again.

Why? Because I am supposed to be taking an after school club (2 actually) this term at my daughter's school! Yes I've changed my mind about the content of the courses... so I'm frantically trying to finish the example scrapbook mini albums the children will be making... wish me luck.

I also signed up for Shimelle's September Class (daily scrapping... yeah right!!) my daily entries will be done once a week I think!

Well, on to the update then.

3 Easy 4×4 mini albums - Video Tour No.1
Whilst I was visiting my folks in Surrey and Sussex recently I visited a (fairly local) scrapbooking shop Crafts U Love (they do mail order). While I was there I bought a number of items such as new papers, but I also bought some sale paper packs along with my usual replenishment of tape runners and foam pads, etc.

Newsletter subscriber Freebie - a Quickpage by SundayL
I mentioned a while ago (I think) that I am working on a fairly dark set of printable papers (hybrid crafting). I decided to give away a downloadable quick page to all my Newsletter Subscribers in August, and this is it.

Some recent Scrapbook Page Layouts from others...

I Am Who I Am
Ingvild Bolme creates another stunning page, this time with a sentiment we should all be taking on board. In fact I actively encourage everyone to make a scrapbook page on a similar note and place the layout somewhere where you will see it Every Day!

There are lots of close up photos of this layout.

*************************************************************

A Round Page Layout
Scrapperlicious shows us how she made a recent circular scrapbook page. I like the muted colours of this one.

Lots of close up picture provided of this layout.

********************************************************

New Find... a sumptuous page
I found this lady (Zarah) via Scrapperlicious. I love this layout, the simplicity of the colour scheme, and it's good to see it as an example of how you "don't" have to use themed papers for a subject. Zarah's grandmother (in the photograph) is not surrounded by vintage lace and all things grandmother-ish, she is surrounded with papers and embellishments which could easily suit any age of person - a refreshing change.

Poolside Scrapbooking, decorated letter blocks, cow mini albums, and interior design

Sunday's Weekly Scrapbooking Round-Up 2nd August 2009

Well I have been visiting my folks in Surrey (here in the UK) for a few days, and we actually ended up with my mum, my sister, her eldest daughter, myself and my daughter all making a mini scrapbook album each! very unusual for all to do something together like that, and it was nice! Three generations scrapbooking!
I have also spent yet more money on scrapbooking bits and pieces whilst I was out and about down there and when I returned with some lovely lace to share with my mum, she got out a shoe box stuffed with ribbon and lace... forgot she had them and now I had given her an idea of what to do with them! So I ended up with a whole bagful of lengths cut from those too... bonus! I will have to make up some "lacey" scrapbook pages now!

So onto the blog posts over at SundayLDesigns.com

Scrapbooking By The Pool
Ok, So it’s not a pretty sight, but it isproof of me “Scrapbooking by the Pool”! Actually this shot was rather dark in the foreground because of the contrast caused by me sitting in the shade and the brightness of the hotel swimming pool in the background. However, my trusy PSE (PhotoShop Elements) allowed me to fiddle with it. Shame I can’t “fiddle” a couple of stone off my body at the same time eh?! LOL
******************************************************

Mini Album - Scrapbook By The Pool
In the last article I showed you what limited supplies I had when on holiday abroad (Majorca) and managed to make a mini album. Well here is the album! This is a Hybrid Scrapbook Album as the papers I have used are from the Colourful Beauty Kit of downloadable papers
********************************************************
As for blog hopping...
Over on the WonderfullyWhimsy Blog there is a lovely post about decorated letter blocks with lots of pictures.

And over on a blog called Scrapsells from Lean there is a lovely mini album with lots of frills and ribbons and girlie stuff, although I note the photos in the album are of "cows"!!! I did notice however that Lean's Dog Misty looks remarkably like my boy Inde... go have a look at her latest layout and see for yourself! Pictures below...

Yeah alright... thay are both border collies! LOL I think it's Misty's expression actually, which looks just like Inde, but I don't have a picture of Inde looking ... "sheepish"... (groaning at bad joke!!)

And Thanks to the blog "Inspirational" for bringing Lean to my attention.

Finally here is a blog I found via Twitter... http://www.verdigrisvie.blogspot.com/ and I will tell you now that it is NOT a scrapbooking site, infact it has nothing to do with craft at all. It is a collection of beautiful houses and their interiors and worth soaking up the sunny pictures and sense of space, and may be even get a bit of inspiration too!

Die-Cut style Butterflies, Scrapbook Page Video, Mini Album Tutorial

Sunday's Weekly Scrapbooking Round-Up 26th July 2009

Poor old Honey has Chicken Pox! Strangely she didn't like the idea of taking photos of her spots for posterity (we all know I want to scrapbook the event!!)! Maybe when she's feeling better, but still shows the evidence? Well we have to scrapbook the not so good events of life too, don't you agree? I feel some of them are just as important, bearing in mind the difficulties in life shape us as people.

Anyway... This week's roundup of the Scrapbooking items over on the SundayLDesigns blog...

And so to a bit of Blog Hopping.

Monica's Cards

I like this lady's cards! Lots of layering and done in a "scrapbook style". I'm very much into the distressed edges and a bit of stitching, so I have picked out this example of Monica's cards to show you.

Sunday's Weekly Scrapbooking Round-Up 24 May 09

It's been another rushing around week! I expect it's the same for you all, right?

One thing I am chuffed about is that I have had a Scrapbooking Page Layout of mine published in the June issue of Scrapbook Inspirations Magazine. It's on Page 66 (the "Fathers" layouts section) Yes it will be Fathers' Day soon! (I subscribe to the mag so get it early and cheaper, but I believe it will be on newsagent shelves on Friday 29th May)

I have actually managed a couple of scrapbooking pages this week, well, finished off one (now that I have re-installed my Craft Robo!) and made one by SPEED-Scrapping an 8x8 layout using the FREEBIE downloadable background paper I have released to my Newsletter Subscribers. Here it is...

The background paper is the freebie and the Title element and the Journaling block are both from the Blue Damask Scrapbooking/Card Kit.

I added a sprinkling of eyelets (which follow the swirls on the paper slightly) and TIP put white or light coloured paper behind the eyelets to enhance their colour, otherwise the middles will look black and the colour gets lost in the hole if you see what I mean!)

I also added a gathering of buttons and flowers to match the colours in the photograph.

If you sign up for the newsletter now, you will have missed the email with the link to the FREEBIE, so when you receive your Welcome email, just hit reply and ask me for the link and I will send it to you as soon as I next check my emails!

So here is the weekly round-up of crafty (and not so crafty!) things for you...

On the not so crafty front, I posted a video of "my boys" on the SundayLDesigns.com blog - that is the Koi in my pond (Although I reckon Tango is a girl... from it's Girth!!!!!! Childbearing hips as they say! LOL)

On the crafting front...

Here's a little story of how Hybrid Crafting can actually SAVE THE DAY!

A great Mini book to be seen in this post... click here...

Ok, till next week then... you can always pop over to SundayLDesigns.com in the meantime

Hybrid Crafting Freebie and a hybrid Word Album

It's Sunday evening and here is the weekly post!

Firstly, I wanted to show you a Word Album I made for a friend on the birth of her 2nd son.

Now this album is a true hybrid scrapbooking album! That is because all the papers I used on it were printed from my computer! They are digital scrapbooking papers from a kit by Vicki. The papers I used are from the Putting on the Glitz Kit. They were free until recently but I see from her site that they are all retired, Vicki now sells her kits. Check out her blog.

I covered each of the chipboard letters with a contrasting paper - all via my printer and added a few flowers and buttons, etc. My hand holding the album in the picture above gives you an idea of scale. See how effective hybrid scrapping can be!

The above picture shows the back of each panel, which I cut round each letter.

I gave the album as a blank (as seen here) with some bits and pieces in a little kit to add to the album when she adds some photos.

Right then, other news... I have been very busy with the new site and have made up a freebie hybrid card making kit, as it was the first proper one, it has taken a long time to sort out the mechanics of a downloadable product, much more than it took me to design the card!! Still the first fledgling pages are there.

I will be posting a link at the end of the week for a FREEBIE HYBRID CARD MAKING KIT from the new site ICanCraftNow.com you can have a nose at the font page now if you like - but it is only temporary while I build the real one.

Also, the SimplyScrapbookingNow.com Newsletter will be coming out soon, so sign up for that if you haven't already. I've made a number of short videos for that.

I will be providing subscribers with downloadable freebies, from now on (as opposed to the freebie frenzy), which won't be available anywhere else! Oooh... how exclusive is that! ooh er! but it does mean that the freebie is available to all subscribers and I won't have to hand a very sharp pin to my hubby or daughter to weald around my hands holding a piece of paper in order for them to choose a winner!!! LOL

So anyway, you might like to check back here around Friday to pick up the freebie which is a whole card kit. And... if you make cards for charity sales, I am happy for you to make use of this kit (as long as there is a little mention on the back of the card somewhere).

Exciting News - New Look Blog, New Hybrid Products and Freebies

Hi there everyone!

I have quite a bit to tell you about! All Scrapbooking and Cardmaking related... ready?

Firstly I am designing some hybrid kits, and by "Hybrid" I mean that you can download the kit and printout and cut and paste together to make cards with matching envelopes, mini albums, cute bags and boxes, tags, and scrapbooking pages!!! There is no shipping involved, as it all comes to you courtesy of a PDF file!

The first kit is for Mother's Day... there is a freebie card to make, so keep your eyes peeled for that link, I have to finish the website for it first though! LOL There will be matching items available to purchase, such as a brag book, cute mini bag for the book, embellished envelope, gift tag and 8x8 papers for making up your own matching scrapbook layout. All really easy to make.

Secondly, (as I mentioned above) I am designing a brand new website to link up with SimplyScrapbookingNow.com, which will include all the Hybrid kits, (freebies and for purchasing) and my focus is on showing beginners how easily they can papercraft and experienced crafters, how I can save them time with my kits. There will be lots more information on the new website about Hybrid Scrapbooking, Cardmaking and general papercrafting - what it is, how you can benefit and how to do it!

Thirdly (is that a word?!), You may have noticed a New Look to this blog! I have decided to make this more obviously the blog to the SSNow.com site (although the address is still http://scrapbooking-layout-inspiration.blogspot.com/, of course) But I want more colour in my life and my work. And keep your eye out for changes as I will be regularly changing my header for FUN! I already have some photos in the pipeline!

As for the amount of posts, I shall be posting once a week from now on. This will allow me more time to create my hybrid kits. And as my name is Sunday... I thought it only fitting that the weekly blog update from now on should be every SUNDAY.

I will be bringing you Hybrid Freebies to make, plus "How to" videos to show you how to make up the contents of the kits as and when new ones are complete. Plus general photos of work made as before.

And don't forget that the Newsletter will still be published every month, with the usual articles, videos, freebies, etc, however this month saw the last Freebie Frenzy! The subscriber freebies will be downloadable and therefore available for every single subscriber.

Finally I said I would post some pictures of the mini album I made at the ScrapBuddies Crop (I am thinking of changing the name to "ScrapNcardBuddies") for my daughter for Valentines day. Quickly done, with lots of kiddy colour - it was nice not to have to worry too much about the finished quality! LOL She was very pleased to receive her own mini album!

Thanks for popping in to see me, leave me a comment about the changes, would like some feedback, always open to new ideas!

P.S. my computer refit has had to be postponed, new drive arrived too late and I need to use mt laptop for my design work now!
Warm wishes to all.

Really Easy and Quick mini album

Happy Valentines Day everyone... give some luuuurve today! LOL

Here is the really EASY mini album I made for my hubby for today. I will be writing an article about how to make it in the March issue of the SimplyScrapbookingNow.com Newsletter, so keep your eye out for that.

These are the first inside pages 1 and 2...

Then the flap opens to reveal pages 3 and 4...

This is the back "cover" as such.

Whilst at my crop this afternoon I made another one of these for my daughter as she was upset this morning that she hadn't got a card! Ahhh. Normally I would have said, "well actually it's really for grown ups" and left it at that... but she had made a lovely big glittery heart at school which said...

"I love Mummy and Daddy and Inde and Toffee"!

So I thought I would make her a little album like Daddy's. I will post those pictures up as soon as I manage to prize it away from her and take some! LOL

P.S. Freebie Frenzy Alert tomorrow.

Buttons - double page 5x7 album pages

Hi all, I have decided to join in with more "blog hopping" challenges this year. Those challenges where you post your creations on your own blog and link back to the blog with the challenge.

So here is my "entry" for want of a better word for this week's challenge on the ArtyGirlzChallenge blog which is to include buttons on creation. I say "creation" because the challenge doesn't refer to only scrapbooking layouts.

Anyway, these are the last two pages in my "In the Mirror" album which is a 5x7 album. It has been half finished for ages and I will be finishing it this week! I am determined to finish my scrapbooking projects that have been "kicking about" for months. Apologies for the "pinkness", but that's the theme of the Album, mostly.

This is the left hand page (below)...

And this is the right hand page (below)...

And a couple of close-ups below. I have to say that I made myself do these quickly. I already had some of the stash together as it was an ongoing project... But not for long... lol... I will post the other pictures when the whole albums is finished. That will be a long post !

Saying Thank You on Thursday

It was Thanks Giving in the States yesterday, so best wishes to all of you who celebrated (and who are still celebrating!

I received a newsletter from "The Secret" Team (see archive label "The Secret" in the left margin for other posts) and it was all about gratitude... of course.
In that when we are grateful, and that means when we genuinely "feel" thanks for something and not just say the words, we attract more of what we want and therefore more reasons to be grateful.

Well the team are bringing out a new product (a daily teachings book) and to promote it, they quoted an excerpt.

It refers to "Thank You Thursday" recommending that you make every Thursday a day where you spend the whole day saying thank you for things, people, experiences.
I won't go into detail here, but I thought it was a good idea to adopt! So I have decided to start a "Thank you" Album - something I have been wanting to do for a while - but every Thursday I will put something in it.
The album will be a "Random" Mini Album, (see this post for more info and the videos about it are now available to everyone by clicking on the link(s) on THIS PAGE on the SimplyScrapbookingNow.com website).
The main reason for that is that some weeks (like this week for instance) I would not have much time to make a full blown scrapbooking layout, but I could make a quick 6x6 or a tag, or just embellish a photo which may say it all. So I may well be able to "keep up" with this weekly committment.
How about you?
