Poolside Scrapbooking, decorated letter blocks, cow mini albums, and interior design

Sunday's Weekly Scrapbooking Round-Up 2nd August 2009

Well I have been visiting my folks in Surrey (here in the UK) for a few days, and we actually ended up with my mum, my sister, her eldest daughter, myself and my daughter all making a mini scrapbook album each! very unusual for all to do something together like that, and it was nice! Three generations scrapbooking!
I have also spent yet more money on scrapbooking bits and pieces whilst I was out and about down there and when I returned with some lovely lace to share with my mum, she got out a shoe box stuffed with ribbon and lace... forgot she had them and now I had given her an idea of what to do with them! So I ended up with a whole bagful of lengths cut from those too... bonus! I will have to make up some "lacey" scrapbook pages now!

So onto the blog posts over at SundayLDesigns.com

Scrapbooking By The Pool
Ok, So it’s not a pretty sight, but it isproof of me “Scrapbooking by the Pool”! Actually this shot was rather dark in the foreground because of the contrast caused by me sitting in the shade and the brightness of the hotel swimming pool in the background. However, my trusy PSE (PhotoShop Elements) allowed me to fiddle with it. Shame I can’t “fiddle” a couple of stone off my body at the same time eh?! LOL

Mini Album - Scrapbook By The Pool
In the last article I showed you what limited supplies I had when on holiday abroad (Majorca) and managed to make a mini album. Well here is the album! This is a Hybrid Scrapbook Album as the papers I have used are from the Colourful Beauty Kit of downloadable papers

As for blog hopping...
Over on the WonderfullyWhimsy Blog there is a lovely post about decorated letter blocks with lots of pictures.

And over on a blog called Scrapsells from Lean there is a lovely mini album with lots of frills and ribbons and girlie stuff, although I note the photos in the album are of "cows"!!! I did notice however that Lean's Dog Misty looks remarkably like my boy Inde... go have a look at her latest layout and see for yourself! Pictures below...

Yeah alright... thay are both border collies! LOL I think it's Misty's expression actually, which looks just like Inde, but I don't have a picture of Inde looking ... "sheepish"... (groaning at bad joke!!)

And Thanks to the blog "Inspirational" for bringing Lean to my attention.

Finally here is a blog I found via Twitter... http://www.verdigrisvie.blogspot.com/ and I will tell you now that it is NOT a scrapbooking site, infact it has nothing to do with craft at all. It is a collection of beautiful houses and their interiors and worth soaking up the sunny pictures and sense of space, and may be even get a bit of inspiration too!

Video Tour of a Scrapbook Page made using Hybrid Background Papers

I thought, this week I would make a new video for you all! It is what I call a "Page Tour" and I thought it would be a nice and more interesting way to show you a recent layout I have made. I explain more in the video.
The video has come out a little dark, I think due to the strong contrast because of the sunlight streaming through my window at the time. Do make sure you click the "HQ" button at the bottom of the little video window to view in High Quality Video.
Anyway... after watching it, tell me what you think, does a video of a scrapbooking page give you more details? or is a still picture just as good?
Also I have posted any links mentioned in this post below the video itself, such as a picture of the papers from the Pink Damask Collection by Design SundayL (yep, me!) and also below there are a couple of cards (from Sally and Dawn) made using the papers from this collection too.

Here is the preview of papers... click the image to take you straight to the relevant page on the ICanCraftNow.com website, scroll down for the papers.

Below are a couple of cards made using this collection of papers... the first is by Sally

And the second one (below) is by Dawn.

Thanks to both of them for trying out the Pink Damask Collection papers and designing these lovely cards.

And here is a quick card (20 minutes!) that I made with my 5 year old daughter as a thank you card to one of her friends (and her parents) for including her in a small gathering of girls for a birthday party at a "Build a Bear" Shop! She came home with a lovely (and quite large) panda bear!

Freebie Cardmaking Kit and Hybrid Scrapbooking

Hello all! A day late... sorry but I had Flu! Thank you to Eileen and Sally for their comments on the last post!

So... I have a FREEBIE CardMaking Kit for you! The link below will take you to a page on the new ICanCraftNow.com website. There you will find a tutorial, a video tutorial and the link to the download itself.

This is the Card... and there is a more simple version for complete beginners too.

As you can see from the second photograph there is also a pretty insert too.

The card is a Birthday Card or a Mother's Day card (still to come this year in the States I believe), both options are in the kit.

The Card is designed from the Pink Damask Collection (the 12 papers kit preview below - which is available on the site, along with an envelope and tag kit to match the card).

Below is a card I have made using some of the papers from the kit... yep, they're blue/green! So a very versatile kit as it's not all pink!

However, there is also a Blue Damask Collection on it's way soon, first part of which is a scrapbooking page and card kit with papers, word art and embellishments.

CLICK HERE to take you to the freebie Hybrid CardMaking Kit... and yes there will be more freebies on their way!

Oh... and a PS... last Thursday I was taking part in an Aston Martin Drive Experience - a voucher my hubby bought me for my birthday last year...

Yes... that IS me driving... with a lovely crash helmet on! LOL I have no idea what speed I managed to get the V12 up to, but I would say over the ton on occasion! (100mph) mere walking pace for such a car!

Brand New Printable Card making Kit FREEBIE

Hi there, I am so excited to be able to announce a new project for the SimplyScrapbookingNow.com website! I am currently designing a range of printable kits for scrapbooking and for cardmaking and will hopefully progress into other areas too.

Here is the first kit and it is a very simple card kit (remember the site's motto? - "Keeping it Simple to get you Crafting Now!"), so I have kept it simple so that complete beginners can have a go too. It's just in time for Valentines Day and so may just help if you haven't sorted out your card yet!!

The kit consists of a straight forward "print out and stick on a base card" version (pictured left) and the one on the right in the photo was made using the 3 page pdf, (which includes full instructions and bonus items) which was printed, cut out, arranged and stuck to a base card. You get both versions in the FREE DOWNLOAD! All you need is a colour printer with some paper in it (!) and a base card to stick the final item onto.

This kit is the first in a range I will be calling "The I Can Craft Now" Range of products and I have released it free for you to try out. I would really appreciate any feedback you may have, whether you love it or loathe it, as I can take all suggestions on board for the next kits. I'm hoping to create a FREE mother's day card and a FREE simple scrapbooking page shortly.

Oh and for those of you who don't have a colour printer... I will be creating black and white kits for cardmaking and scrapbooking, so keep an eye out for those.

Anyone will be able to take advantage of these kits, as they will be flexible enough for the more experienced to create their own things, but simple enough for a beginner to start too.

So welcome to the world of Hybrid Scrapping/Cardmaking! Follow this link to the download page and note that as the products are not "officially live" yet, this is the only way on to the download page.

Feel free to let your friends know about this freebie and get them to pop over to this blog to pick it up for themselves!
